Webley Mk3 Air Rifle Serial Numbers

Webley Air Rifle Parts

I'll just give this a bump.. From reading other posts, perhaps it's the case that Webley serial numbers are meaningless anyway (without other information)? MKIII numbering is pretty good as far as I can tell.

Webley Mk3 Air Rifle Serial Numbers

There's little ambiguity in the reference books. The only problem I could envisage would be an older rifle fitted with a newer underlever to throw a spanner in the works!:D I still don't have access to my book to confirm for you just yet. I'll see who I can badger that will have a book to hand.;). Just a quickie (I hope). Can anyone tell me how old a Webley Mark III with the serial number 37814 is?

Fiery Sequence Impose Crackle. Or is the short answer 'buy such-and-such a book'? Approximately 1960/62. Sorry can't be more definite as there is no production register available at present.

It is being worked on, but it is very difficult to obtain hard and fast dates to compile such a list. I have my own list compiled from a few known production dates, and estimated on known approximate production quantities, but it is far from entirely accurate. Others have similar lists and we are trying to compile a more accurate list between us. Unfortunately, receipts for early purchases don't appear very often.;). I have a mark 3 with a number that reads A1755 - both on lever and under barrel - maybe I am looking in the wrong place - noone appears to have an alpha numeric number elsewhere on this BB. Anyone have a date for this one? Piccies might help your cause!;) The models that had numbers with prefixes were usually Supertargets.

If this is the case it should have a straight rather than tapered barrel. It should also have Parker-Hale diopter sights fitted and no sign of a conventional V notch rearsight just in front of the loading tap. Sorry Chris, you are mistaken in your assumption that most Mk.3's with letters prefixing numbers were Supertargets. They are the later model Mk.3's which do sometimes include the Supertarget quite often fitted with the later Anschutz sights rather than the Parker Hale, although I do have an 'A' prefix Supertarget with PH sights dated January 1972, and a 'B' prefix with Anschutz sights dated November 1974.I have an F prefix Supertarget dated July '75. Could this be one of the very last do you think TS, or do you know of later?
